Training & Coaching

for blue-light services

Great leaders and Teams don't emerge by accident. They are trained and coached .

Building Leaders

Building Teams

Building Resilience

Unbearable workplace pressure and stress for 99.9% of people.

Just an ordinary day for you.

Anybody involved in leadership in a blue-light service knows the meaning of pressure and stress. It's the nature of the job. It comes with the territory. Most people would buckle under the challenges you face every day. You need to be able to deal with them as rapidly as they appear. Here are some examples of how I can help.

Become a better leader

Exceptional leadership requires great self-leaders. So you'll learn how to improve how you lead yourself first before adding leadership skills to your toolbox.

Improve Performance

While coaching always works for improving performance, and the stick+carrot doesn't, the secret lies in better accountability. Which needs better difficult conversations.

Raise confidence

No secret here. Confidence is an inside job. And external influences play their part. Clearer expectations, enabling growth in skills and providing autonomy also key.

Sustain a heavy workload

Resilience is not about bouncing back. It's about growing stronger. It's a team sport with some key personal behaviours and beliefs. Equip them with those skills.

Understand your impact

Awareness of what actually happens as a result of what you say and do is critical. The confidence to ask and listen from the heart. Feedback is the breakfast of champions.

Look after staff

Teams are made up of people. People are all different. One approach only suits one. If people are an asset, care for them like one. Whether you can see them, or not.

About Jonathan.

I would love to help you and your team as well.

How we work together

Here's the typical process:

Explore
Leadership Development

Initial discussions so you know you're going to get what you need for your specific challenges and context.

Travel
Workshop participants learning

We co-create a solution: you can be involved as much or as little as you want and need to be. I deliver it, in person or online.

Arrive

We check that you've got the results that you wanted, and decide any next steps.

I do things differently

Every team is unique. Because teams are made up of people. Who are, themselves, unique. So why would you want a generic 1-size solution that doesn't fit anyone? Every session I provide will be tailored to line up with your specific challenges. After a decade of delivery, I've probably got some ideas you'll find useful.

This short (2:13) video introduces one of the models I use...

Nice that it's not a 'cookie cutter' workshop

A long day but some very clever working practices are shown. Nice that it's not a 'cookie cutter' workshop. Thank-you!

Kept the session involving very senior staff on track, and productive.

Jonathan came recommended to me and from my first contact I could see why. He took the time to listen and understand what we were trying to achieve, before making some useful suggestions, from overall vision and structure, to the finer details of the away-day, to ensure everything went smoothly. The tools and techniques Jonathan employed, together with his positive personal manner, kept the session involving very senior staff on track, and productive. I expect we will engage Jonathan again in the future and I've already recommended him to my colleagues.

Will definitely use the skills

Wasn't sure if this would benefit me when I first heard about it. However I found it very relatable to my work/home life. I will definitely use the skills learnt in the future.

Stress & Burnout webinar feedback...

It was a fantastic use of my time. As I find myself in different situations different parts of what we covered come back to me and provide me with different ways of thinking about things and approaching things. For example high expectations of myself/my self-image being a cause of stress; I think of myself as a deliverer, so I must deliver. And, the bucket which even if kept in balance with good and bad experiences/stress, is still quite likely to have a layer of residual stress in relation to which more sustained action is needed for ongoing wellbeing. Many thanks for all you are doing for us ...
